The Commissioner of the Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA), H.E. Mahamuud Moallim, received Mr. George Conway, the Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General, Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator for Somalia, to discuss Somalia’s humanitarian situation and preparedness for the impacts of Super El Niño.
Discussions focused on strengthening coordination among government and humanitarian partners, accelerating support to vulnerable communities in high-risk areas, and reducing flood risks during the Deyr rainy season.
The Commissioner thanked the United Nations for its continued support and called for joint preparedness efforts ahead of the rains and associated risks.
