The Federal Government of Somalia and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan on Tuesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen bilateral cooperation in defence, security, and military capacity development.
The agreement was signed in Islamabad by Somalia’s Minister of Defence, Ahmed Moallim Fiqi, who is leading an official delegation on a visit to Pakistan, and Pakistan’s Minister of Defence, Khawaja Muhammad Asif.
Under the MoU, the two countries will enhance cooperation in counterterrorism, military training, the exchange of expertise and professional knowledge, defence capacity building, and broader security collaboration to support efforts aimed at promoting peace and stability.
The agreement reflects the shared commitment of Somalia and Pakistan to deepening their strategic partnership and expanding defence and security cooperation, laying the foundation for closer collaboration that serves the mutual interests of both nations.
