The World Internet Conference International Organization has held a press conference in Beijing to present preparations for the 2026 World Internet Conference Wuzhen Summit, which will take place from 2 to 5 November in Wuzhen, Zhejiang Province. Themed “Open Source and Openness: Building and Sharing Together, Working Together to Build a Community with a Shared Future in Cyberspace,” the summit will bring together government officials, technology companies, scientists and other participants to discuss developments in artificial intelligence, open-source technology and global internet governance. Ren Xianliang, Secretary General of the World Internet Conference, said the summit would again feature the “AI Wuzhen Dialogue,” bringing together executives of leading global technology companies, representatives of open-source large-model companies and artificial intelligence scientists. He said the discussions would focus on building a global open-source artificial intelligence ecosystem, and that research findings on frontier AI security and governance would be released at the summit. Li Yanyi, Secretary of the Propaganda Department of the Zhejiang Provincial Party Committee, said the summit would feature a series of established and new activities, including the World Internet Conference Leading Science and Technology Awards, the “Internet Light” Expo and the “Straight to Wuzhen” Global Internet Competition. Other activities will include the World Internet Conference Award for Outstanding Contribution, the Global Youth Leadership Program and the Global Internet Talent Excellence Program Seminar, Li said. He added that the ancient town of Puyuan in Zhejiang would also open as a venue for conference activities during the summit, providing an additional setting for participants and events. The summit is hosted by the World Internet Conference and organised by the People’s Government of Zhejiang Province. International organisations supporting the event include the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs, the World Intellectual Property Organization and the GSM Association.
