China is trying to move forward along the negotiation and diplomatic track. Beijing has actively engaged from the beginning of the first round of talks between Washington and Tehran in Islamabad in April.
China’s position has been consistent since the beginning of the US aggression against Iran: it opposes and strongly condemns it – but at the same time does not want to see countries in the Middle East targeted by Tehran.
The Strait of Hormuz was also expected to be an important topic during Araghchi’s first visit.
