The Minister of Internal Security of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Abdullahi Sheikh Ismail (Fartaag), today received the Ambassador of China to Somalia, Amb. Wang Yu, and a delegation from the embassy at his office.
The meeting focused on enhancing security cooperation between Somalia and China, with particular emphasis on China’s support to Somalia, especially in the development and capacity-building of security forces and efforts to combat violent extremism.
The Minister of Internal Security expressed appreciation to the Chinese government for its continued support to Somalia’s security institutions, noting that such cooperation plays a vital role in maintaining stability and security in the country.
Ambassador Wang Yu, for his part, reaffirmed his country’s commitment to continued support in the security sector, highlighting in particular assistance to Somalia’s demining agency and the capacity-building of its personnel to reduce the risks posed by landmines and enhance civilian safety.
The Minister was accompanied at the meeting by the Director General of the Ministry of Internal Security, Mohamed H. Shire, and Senior Advisor to the Ministry, Shoki Hayir.
The two sides agreed to further strengthen strategic cooperation between Somalia and China, particularly in the areas of security and stability.
