PM Hamza Holds Talks with National Leadership Academy’s Governing Council and Management.

The Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Hamza Abdi Barre, on Wednesday held a high-level meeting with the Governing Council and management of the National Leadership Academy (NLA), which works to advance leadership development in Somalia.

The Prime Minister received an update on the progress of the Academy’s activities, with officials reporting that facilities for its operations have been completed, its curriculum has been developed, and memoranda of understanding have been reached with major international institutions and universities.

Prime Minister Hamza commended the council and management for their extensive work in establishing the Academy, stressing the importance of institutions that can contribute to meaningful change in the lives of Somali people, raise public awareness, challenge harmful ways of thinking and develop leaders committed to the interests of the country and its people.

“We must have educational institutions that bring real change to the lives of the Somali people, raise individual awareness, transform misguided thinking, and produce people with leadership qualities rooted in the interests of the country and its people,” the Prime Minister said.

The Prime Minister urged the Governing Council and management of the NLA to develop innovative approaches aimed at addressing social practices that hinder the country’s progress, including corruption and clan-based divisions.
