Somalia Participates in International Cybercrime Conference in Egypt.

The State Minister for Justice and Constitutional Affairs of the Federal Government of Somalia, Amb. Ilyas Sheikh Omar, participated in the International Conference on Combating Cybercrime held in Cairo, Egypt.

The conference was jointly organized by Egypt’s Ministry of Justice, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), and the The British University in Egypt.

Discussions focused on strengthening efforts to combat cybercrime, enhancing the use of electronic evidence in criminal investigations, and building the capacity of justice institutions through stronger international cooperation against transnational crimes.

On the sidelines of the conference, Amb. Ilyas Sheikh Omar held talks with Egypt’s Minister of Justice, Mahmoud Helmy El Sherif. The meeting focused on deepening bilateral cooperation, exchanging expertise, and advancing judicial reforms and institutional development.

The Somali State Minister expressed appreciation for Egypt’s continued support to Somalia and reaffirmed the importance of strengthening cooperation between the two countries in the justice sector.
