On Monday, the Somaliland Bureau of Standards undertook an operation to destroy a large quantity of spoiled and outdated food rations. The food, which had been collected from storage hangars at Berbera Seaport, was deemed unfit for consumption.
Local authorities in Berbera city, located in northern Somalia, facilitated the destruction process. The action was part of an ongoing effort to ensure food safety and protect public health by removing expired and potentially hazardous food products from circulation.
The destroyed food rations had been confiscated from the seaport’s storage facilities and were found to be beyond their expiration dates. The Bureau of Standards said it is committed to maintaining high standards for food safety and preventing the distribution of unsafe products to consumers.
