The Chairperson of Somalia’s National Independent Human Rights Commission, Dr. Maryan Qasim, today received UNDP Resident Representative in Somalia, Mr. Christophoros Politis and his delegation at the Commission’s headquarters in Mogadishu.
Talks focused on institutional development, capacity building, accountability and transparency, and strengthening human rights monitoring, reporting and complaints systems.
Mr Politis reaffirmed UNDP’s commitment to supporting a strong and independent Commission. Both sides agreed to advance longer-term cooperation to strengthen NIHRC’s independence, effectiveness and capacity to fulfil its constitutional and statutory mandate.
