President Hassan Sheikh Holds bilateral Talks with Egyptian Counterpart.

The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, held high-level bilateral talks today with the President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, H.E. Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, at the Al-Alamein Presidential Palace.

The discussions focused on strengthening the strategic partnership and deepening bilateral relations between the two nations. Both leaders emphasized the importance of enhancing people-to-people ties and regional cooperation. President El-Sisi announced Egypt’s plans to reopen its embassy in Mogadishu in the near future—a move that underscores Cairo’s commitment to expanding diplomatic engagement with Somalia.

President Hassan Sheikh expressed his appreciation for Egypt’s active role in supporting Somalia’s stabilization and development efforts, particularly in the areas of security, diplomacy, education, health, and military cooperation. The two sides reaffirmed their commitment to accelerating the implementation of the cooperation agreement signed in August 2024.

President El-Sisi reiterated Egypt’s unwavering support for the Somali government and people, especially in their ongoing fight against terrorism. He commended Somalia’s efforts toward national unity, improved security, and sustainable development.

President Hassan Sheikh underscored Somalia’s firm commitment to strengthening its strategic relationship with Egypt and thanked President El-Sisi for the warm welcome extended to the Somali delegation.
