oday in Mogadishu, senior officials from the Ministry of Family and Human Rights Development, alongside other government representatives and members of the United Nations, convened to develop modalities for the smooth and effective handover of UNTMIS’s Human Rights and Protection Group (HRPG) portfolio to the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) and the United Nations Country Team (UNCT), in preparation for the mission’s planned closure in October 2026.
The meeting also focused on consolidating existing progress and ensuring future efforts are aligned with Somalia’s national priorities.
