Donald Trump said on Saturday he had spoken with the leaders of Cambodia and Thailand, with both countries seeking an “immediate ceasefire” after border clashes.
At the start of a private visit to his golf courses in Scotland, the US president wrote in Truth Social that the two nations “agreed to meet immediately and work quickly towards a ceasefire and, ultimately, PEACE!”.
Thailand’s acting prime minister, Phumtham Wechayachai, confirmed that “in principle, the Thai side has agreed to a ceasefire”.
But he said Thailand “would like to see the Cambodian side be sincere on this matter”.
