Speaker of the Parliament Meets Political Parties on Electoral Reform and National Unity.

The Speaker of the House of the People of the Federal Parliament of Somalia, H.E. Sheikh Adan Mohamed Nur (Madobe), accompanied by Second Deputy Speaker Hon. Abdullahi Omar Abshirow, held a consultative meeting with representatives from several registered political parties at his office in Mogadishu.

The meeting was also attended by the Chief Whip of the House, MP Mohamed Abdullahi Hassan Nuux, and the Chairperson of the Parliamentary Committee on Rules, Ethics, Immunity, and Welfare, MP Mohamed Ibrahim Ali (Mohamed Ajeeb).

Representatives of the political parties briefed the Speaker on their operations and reiterated their strong support for Somalia’s democratic transition, particularly the government’s plan to hold one-person, one-vote elections. They also expressed their commitment to supporting government efforts to defeat Al-Shabaab and advance national stability.

In his closing remarks, Speaker Sheikh Adan Madobe commended the political parties for their engagement and their consistent support for Somalia’s democratization process. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to fostering a multi-party political system and ensuring that power is returned to the people through free and fair elections.

Speaker Madobe emphasized that the Federal Government supports the active role of political parties in shaping Somalia’s future and remains dedicated to delivering a democratic process that empowers citizens to choose their leaders at the ballot box.
