Somalia and Serbia Sign Historic Security Agreement.

The Federal Government of Somalia’s Minister of Internal Security, Mr. Abdullahi Sheikh Ismail (Fartaag), and Serbian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Internal Affairs, Mr. Ivica Dačić, have signed a landmark cooperation agreement. This pact aims to enhance security and the training of the Somali Police Force, marking a new chapter in the longstanding relationship between the two nations.

During the signing ceremony, Minister Fartaag emphasized the transformative potential of this agreement for Somali-Serbian relations, particularly in the realms of security training and development.

“The cooperative relationship between the Federal Republic of Somalia and the Republic of Serbia is deep and has existed for many years. The step we have signed today with this agreement will further strengthen the support and friendly cooperation between the two countries,” stated Minister Fartaag.

Mr. Dačić echoed these sentiments, lauding the agreement as a historic milestone. He reaffirmed Serbia’s commitment to fortifying the partnership and highlighted the pivotal role Serbia plays in Somalia’s state-building efforts, especially in military training and the development of national security institutions.

Serbia has been a key player in supporting Somalia’s efforts to build robust security frameworks, reflecting a commitment to international collaboration and mutual growth. This new agreement is expected to significantly advance these efforts, ensuring the effective training and development of Somali security forces.
