The Turkish government has redoubled its efforts to find a solution to the diplomatic crisis between Somalia and Ethiopia that resulted from the agreement signed by Abiy Ahmed with the Somaliland administration.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who directly intervened in this matter, made a phone call with Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, discussing sensitive issues, first of all the crisis caused by the maritime agreement.
Erdogan declared that his government is continuing its efforts to end the crisis between Somalia and Ethiopia.
He also underlined that the steps taken by Ethiopia to eliminate Somalia’s concerns about its unity, independence and territorial integrity will facilitate a real dialogue process.
Ethiopia has also agreed to refrain from any actions that harm the territorial independence of the Republic of Somalia, according to a press release from the Turkish Presidency.
The talks between the two officials came ahead of a meeting tomorrow Monday in Ankara between the ministers of foreign affairs of Somalia and Ethiopia, which will resume the talks between the two countries, which is under the auspices of the Turkish government.
